Turmeric has been used for centuries as a healing modality both internally and externally. It’s active ingredient, Curcumin, has powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric is used to treat numerous ailments such as rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and pain relief (just to name a few). Many use it externally as well, as it can help lighten acne scars and helps with hyperpigmentation.
Personally, I use turmeric in the form of a mask and a drink – which leads me to this post. I wanted to share this recipe to show you how simple it is to incorporate turmeric into your daily regimen. Drinking a cup of this at daily can really help you achieve optimum health.
Now, before I get to the recipe, I have to warn you..
THIS STUFF STAINS EVERYTHING!
No joke!
I remember one time I spilled my golden milk and it stained my counter top and my shirt. It was a hot mess! Oh, and be sure to rinse your mug out after drinking this unless you want fifty shades of golden in your mug.
This recipe calls for pepper and coconut oil. It sounds odd, but the pepper and the oil helps with the absorption of the turmeric and it enhances the curcumin’s bioavailability since curcumin is fat soluble. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
